In the Northern Hemisphere we observed a long and wet winter this year. It lead to massive precipitation and snow caps in the mountains, still present even in the areas where snow is seasonal.
With Landmapper-BC multispectral satellite images we can see and monitor the changing snow cover.
Here’s the Swiss and Italian Alps imaged on March 19th and processed to Natural color.
Below are the Alborz mountains near Tehran, imaged on March 5th.
And also we captured Mount Fuji in Japan on March 27th with an off-nadir image collection.
The snow caps provide important resources to surrounding regions. Monitoring these resources leads to better planning and use.
