The UK government has revealed its Wireless Infrastructure Strategy, outlining the role of satellite technology in its plans to lead the way in communications technologies and connectivity. The government has launched an £8m ($9.92m) fund to provide capital grants to promote new satellite connectivity to the most remote 35,000 premises, following the launch of the Alpha Trial Programme in December 2022. The programme tests the capability and viability of Low-Earth Orbit satellites to deliver high-speed connectivity to homes and businesses in hard-to-reach areas. The UK has launched seven sites across the country using a mix of OneWeb and Starlink equipment.
