Northrop Grumman Enters Build Phase for SDA Satellites Following Successful Design Review

Northrop Grumman has completed the critical design review for its spacecraft for the Tranche 1 Transport Layer (T1TL), paving the way for production to begin. The company won a contract from the Space Development Agency (SDA) to provide satellites for a Low-Earth Orbit mesh communications network last year. The T1TL will be a network of communications satellites that can link with other space as well as terrestrial assets as part of the Department of Defense’s vision of a highly connected battlespace that it calls Joint All Domain Command and Control. Northrop Grumman is partnered with Airbus Group, which is providing the satellite bus for the spacecraft.
