New Companies in the Space Industry Join Copernicus

The European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission have welcomed nine New Space satellite data suppliers into the Copernicus programme as “Contributing Missions”. The move was celebrated at the Le Bourget Paris Air Show, with the companies set to provide complementary Earth observation data to Copernicus Services and public authorities. The programme, which is the world’s largest environmental initiative, provides terabytes of free and open satellite data and information services to hundreds of thousands of users every day. The inclusion of the nine companies is aimed at keeping the programme ahead of the game in the rapidly changing sector of observing Earth from space.
