Pixxel, an Indian hyperspectral earth-imaging technology firm, has been awarded a grant by the Indian Air Force’s iDEX Prime program. The grant will enable Pixxel to manufacture miniaturized multi-payload satellites.
These satellites, weighing up to 150 kgs, will be developed for various applications including electro-optical, infrared, synthetic aperture radar, and hyperspectral imaging.
The grant was part of the SPARK grant program offered by the Indian government, which aims to support Indian innovators and entrepreneurs in delivering technologically advanced solutions and driving deep-tech innovations in the country.
Pixxel CEO Awais Ahmed expressed his delight at receiving the grant and emphasized the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of space exploration and innovation. He also mentioned that this collaboration with the Indian government marks a significant milestone for Pixxel as it will be the first time they manufacture satellites externally.
The financial details of the grant have not been disclosed at this time.
